The Joy of Slides

I haven't shot any reversal film in years. When I lived in the US, shooting reversal always meant prepaid mailers and 2 weeks waiting for processing since I didn't live in a big city with pro labs.

But now living in Japan, everyone who's serious about photography shoots reversal film and you can drop off film at any shop for processing with a max of 3 day turnaround (if they don't do processing in-house) and the cost is basically a wash compared to negative developing/prints. In the last month I've shot at least 4 rolls of Velvia 100F (a wonderful film for sunsets) and I have 3 other films in the fridge (Velvia 100, Provia 400X, and Fortia SP - a film so saturated it makes Velvia look average by comparison).

Mounted reversal film is also so much easier to handle during the scanning process, and the mounts seem to hold the film much flatter than the strip holder on my scanner.
